COTTAGE FARM STABLES
We’re based on a peaceful smallholding on the beautiful Dawnay Estate, with unrivalled access to the North York Moors National Park. From our gate, you can ride straight into miles of quiet dales, forestry trails, and open moorland — a true haven for horses and riders who love to explore.
With 10 stables and over 30 acres of grazing, we warmly welcome both horses and dogs on a temporary or permanent basis. Our hacking is extensive and wonderfully tranquil, offering endless routes for long, relaxed adventures.
We provide grass, part, and full livery for local owners, as well as holiday livery for those visiting the area. Guests are invited to stay and enjoy memorable horse riding holidays with us, complete with comfortable accommodation and the perfect countryside setting.

If you’re seeking an intimate experience with nature and animals, Cottage Farm Stables offers a truly heartwarming setting. Depending on the season, you may find lambs tottering beside their mothers or foals finding their feet — there is always new life around the farm. Children especially love visiting our hens and collecting freshly laid eggs from the chicken hutches.
You’ll also be welcomed by our wonderfully friendly Labrador Xena and our resident Wired Haired Dachshund Doris, who can usually be found lounging on the Tack Room doorstep, ready to greet guests with enthusiastic wagging tails.

The Newham's
Can't decide which is the best bit - thinking about where we are going to go next on our adventures amongst the miles and miles of hacking or getting together for poles or grids in the school and maybe some pony swapping. The yard has spacious boxes and as much straw and forage as you need. The school is handy for those that like circles or a quick lunge in the winter, but with this much hacking you'll rarely be in it! Valleys, streams, uphill canters, moors and forestry are yours to explore with minimal roadwork. A really welcoming and friendly yard with plenty of people to hack out with, go competing or just film your stressage practice.
