The yurts are furnished cosily with maximum comfort and warmth in mind; duck down duvets, blankets and cushions. Each sleep 2-4 with a double bed and two single memory foam mattresses. There is a food station with cool box in the yurt with basic kitchen attire, BBQ/firepit, Solar lighting and phone charging. Includes a private waterless loo (top of the range!) and shared Hot Horsebox shower.

The paddock is right outside so you be staying with your horse in the great outdoors. The paddock is sectioned off with Solar Powered electric fencing with water and hay available if grass supplies are depleted.

I stepped out of my comfort zone and booked a solo trip — and found the most magical place. It couldn’t have been more perfect. From the start, I was welcomed with homemade elderflower cordial and a guided tour of the beautiful site. Each horse had its own paddock, and the yurts were incredible. I stayed in Kenya — cosy and full of thoughtful touches. That afternoon, we rode through sweeping fields, long canters and big smiles. In the evening, we gathered around the firepit for a BBQ — amazing food, great company, and lots of laughter. Just when it couldn’t get better… a surprise visit from the Prosecco Pony! 🥂🐴 Day two was full of adventures — Carr Farm, a dressage lesson, and cross-country sessions. That night we sat by the fire with Cooper Wilson, The Yorkshire Horseman. His words were emotional and beautiful. Our final adventure was galloping on Filey Beach — through the surf, finishing with ice cream. Now home, still on cloud nine, and forever grateful for these memories. 🥰🐴✨ If you’re thinking of a horsey getaway… Acre and Shelter is the one.

Thank you, Kate and team, for a fabulous 3 day riding retreat. Everything was perfect, and the attention to detail made our little holiday incredible. I had yurt envy, but sleeping in my horsebox, looking out at my horse in the paddock, was pure bliss. Both horse and rider were very chilled, and we enjoyed your amazing hospitality. We can't wait to come again x

There’s no competition for future places 😂 It was the most amazing few days with fabulous people. I can’t believe it was your first one as it was absolutely perfect. I loved every minute of it and the food and hosting was beyond amazing. Thank you so so much. Please count me in for the next one. Xx

What a wonderful experience this riding retreat was ! Everything was perfect . Horses settled quickly in their paddocks and I loved watching them graze from my accommodation. Kate was an incredibly thoughtful host and the quality of food was wonderful . Such a luxury not to have to think about meal planning for a change ! The activities with our horses were varied and well organised and we loved the local ride which Kate led us on . The local cross country jumping session was expertly instructed and the facility was great . I’d recommend this wonderful retreat to anyone who wants to chill out with like minded individuals who truly love a variety of riding experiences . I’ve already booked to go back next month !

Just back from a fabulous 3 days of glamping at Acre & Shelter. It was proper camping for Spice and I. Weather was fabulous. We hacked out in a group on the first day, had a reading with Cooper Wilson, had a dressage and xc lesson on day 2 (more photos to come!) and a ride on the beach today. It really did push Spice and I out of our comfort zone. Spice had a bit of a meltdown getting ready at the car park today (there was a skate park and basketball and I should have parked up the hill) for the beach ride but everyone was super helpful and patient - especially Kate Risker of Acre and Shelter who took us out on the ride. Once I was on, Spice was amazing on the ride down to the beach and you can see her in the pictures striding out in front unfazed by the banners and people! She got to have a good blow out canter on the beach and walked and trotted into the waves. It was an amazing weekend and something I never would have thought possible with Spice. When I booked it earlier in the year, I was thinking to take Penny but just didn't get her ridden enough. Although Spice can be a handful when not out doing, I thought I could muddle through with her and I was looking forward to the xc and beach. She really did well and riding her on the beach was unbelievable! Food was fantastic and I met the nicest group of people and am hoping to do it all again next year.

Just got home after a 3 day riding retreat at acre & shelter. And what a truly wonderful 3 days it was. In short if you are thinking about going you should! Sunday we got our horses settled into their paddocks, and us in to our beautiful yurt. Followed by a lovely hack. Kate was a brilliant guide and even with some excitable horses she made everyone feel confident and looked after. We then had homemade elderflower drinks and a tasty bbq, followed by socialising around a fire-pit and guest visit from Prosecco pony. Monday we had a lovey plentiful breakfast delivered to our yurts, and then headed to Carr farm for a dressage and xc lesson. Both instructors were fab. And the afternoon tea was delicious. The evening was filled was homemade pizzas and an interesting night of readings from Cooper Wilson. Then onto our final day, again starting with a tasty breakfast and finishing with ice creams after an exhilarating ride on the beach. Again with Kate being an excellent ride leader. The yurts are well equipped and very glamorous. Kate is a 5*+ host, made us feel very welcome, had thought about everything we might need and nothing felt like too much trouble. The food was wonderful, even different dietary needs were expertly catered for. There is something very special about this place and what Kate does.

Riding Retreat July 25. Just back from the most amazing three day riding retreat. Kate and Adam are wonderful hosts. Kate has an eye for detail and really cares about providing a wonderful experience. My horse and I were well cared for and were made to feel at home right away. This is my seconds stay, having stayed as a "Pony Glamping" guest previously. This time I opted for the retreat, where food and activities are included in the package. Arrival day included a group hack and a BBQ night with the other guest (with Prosecco Pony delivering the prosecco!). Day two was packed full of wonderful activities. The day started with a delicious breakfast of pastries, fruit, yoghurt, tea and coffee. Then off to an equestrian centre for a dressage/flat lesson followed by a cross country lesson on a fabulous course. We were provided with a fancy box of lunch and for dinner we had a make-your-own pizza night. Kate took great lengths to check that all the food matched my dietary requirements. That evening we also had an evening with the "Yorkshire Horseman" Cooper Wilson. Off to play on the beach on day three, with ice creams for lunch! I'm already planning my next stay and looking forward to seeing Kate and the team again soon. Recommended!
